#GHRL was able to speak with Secretary General Dr. Luis Almagro about the event. He clarified that this activity has nothing to do with the Organization of American States (OAS); it is being organized by the senders of the invitation, in a room requested by them. However, in-person participation will be limited due to COVID health protocols.

Francisco Guerrero Aguirre, of the OAS (Secretariat for Strengthening Democracy), has already sent his letter to the organizers explaining his reason for not participating.

Invitation:

The Permanent Missions of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Argentine Republic, and the United Mexican States invite:

To the event “What Really Happened in Bolivia's 2019 Elections? Experts Share Their Findings,” featuring Jake Johnston, electoral expert at CEPR; Francisco Rodríguez, economist at Tulane University; and Jack Williams, researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Also invited were Gerardo de Icaza, Director of the OAS Department for Electoral Cooperation and Observation (DECO), and Francisco Guerrero, Secretary for the Strengthening of Democracy (SFD) of the OAS, to present the findings of the “Electoral Integrity Analysis” of Bolivia's October 2019 General Elections.

The event will be held in person on Friday, October 22 of this year, at 10:00 a.m., in the Hall of the Americas at the main OAS building, located at 200 17th St. & Constitution Ave., NW, Washington D.C., and will also be broadcast virtually through a platform to be announced in due course.
